Cinefour Theaters and "B" day idea

My next door neighbor gave me the flyer for the Summer movies happening at Cinifour. The first week of 6/6-6/9 will be Megamind. You can buy all 10 movies for 5 dollars till May 31st. After that they will be 10. If you don't want to go to all of them they are 1.00 a ticket.
Other movies through the summer are:
Shrek the final chapter
Diary of a Whimpy kid
How to train your Dragon
Nanny McPhee Returns
Despicable Me
Ramona and Beezus
Gullivers Travels
Narnia- Voyage of the Dawn Treader and
Yogi Bear

June 3rd- B DAY
BUBBLES: Kelli found how to make a giant bubble wand and a solution recipe in a magazine. Here it is:
You will need- Two three foot wooden dowels, craft glue and yarn.
1. Coat 8 inches of one end of dowel with glue then wrap with yarn.
2. Cut a 3 foot length of yarn and tie one end to the covered tip of one dowel, the other end to the tip of the other dowel.
3. Tie on a second, four foot length of yarn so that it hangs below the first.
4. Holding a dowel in each hand, dip the strings into a bucket or dishpan of bubble solution (below) then slowly pull the dowels apart, letting the soap film form between the strands of yarn. Wave the wand slowly through the air to make giant bubbles.

Homemade solution:
Stir together 1/2 gallon of distilled water into 1/3 cup dishwashing liquid and three tablespoons of glycerin (available at drugstores.

Make Rice Bubble Treats (Rice Krispies are known as rice bubbles in Australia and New Zealand) ha ha

Another idea I thought was cute was to make Jell-O "Bath" in cups. You could make it before you do the bubble wand as the Jello needs time to set up. I think a blue jello to look like the water would be fun.
Give each child their own "Bathtub" and have them add cool whip "BUBBLES" and put their teddy bears (gummy bears) in for a Bath. Eat and enjoy!

Please share your ideas for B day :)

Now to get started. We went through the alphabet and picked things to do with each letter. Doing one to three letters a week. Do it on your own time and how you want, these are just ideas.

Last year I had my kids start with the alphabet of the day and think of as many things as they could that started with that letter. Draw pictures of those things and then pick one they wanted to research online.

Swim Lessons for the Summer

There is also a fee waiver for those who qualify....Your kids can get FREE lessons! Ask them about it. It's income based. So for a family of 5 it's like 33,000 annually or less. Family of 3 23,800 or less. I could be wrong on the numbers, but you get the idea. Check it out if you think you qualify. Learning how to swim could save their life.

"I'm Bored!"

I'm Bored! Do you ever hear this at your home?
I've been reading a book called The Family Managers guide to Summer Survival and they have a bunch of wonderful ideas.
One idea that I'm doing is putting together a craft box. Here is the list of items I want to include in this box. That way when the kids say I'm bored I can have a bunch of things they can play with but also ideas for things they can do with it.

Tape
Glue
Construction paper
Stickers
Pipe cleaner
stickers
googly eyes
stencils
clay
glitter
chalk
crayons/markers
Tempra and acrylic paint
paintbrushes
white and colored paper
smock (old shirt)
brown paper bags
buttons and beads
rick rack
egg cartons
Styrofoam cartons
magazines/ newspapers
Popsicle sticks
toilet paper and paper towl tubes
pom poms
finger paint
balloons
bean bags
paper plates

I know my kids also like floam and dot art.

That's not even the whole list but you get the idea.
So I'll include a list of little things they can do such as: Making flying saucers. Taping two paper plates together and gluing a paper bowl to the top to make a cabin for the crew. Color aliens etc. and then making a landing pad. Toss them to see who's lands closest to the pad.

Or Recycled boats: Using the fast food style foam containers poke a hole in the top. Add a stick and a sail make from construction paper and have a race.

There are also a list of science projects and bug adventures listed. I wish I could list them all the activities but there are so many it would take me forever. I just thought it would be a good idea to get a craft box together before the kids are out of school.

What other items would you put in???

Child ID kits

With the Summer coming our kids are going to be outside a lot more. I get a little nervous with my kids playing in the front. It brings a little bit of peace knowing I have these kits if anything were to happen. Take some time and fill one out for each of your children. Safe kids are happy kids :)

Go to this site to print your free ID kit.

I used the insert link tab above but it didn't work. If anyone can tell me how to get it linked I'd appreciate it.
Thanks- Sincerely Technologically challenged :)

Hope this works for everyone. Since I already have a schedule for the park group I will put that on a side bar for everyone to see. Thanks ladies!
